Snacks for Weight Loss.
It is true that snacks are the biggest deterrent to weight loss plans but if you choose your snacks wisely they can help you to lose weight. It may not sound very convincing as snacks have gained a bad reputation as being the biggest enemy to healthy living but not all of them are bad.
We all know how helpful snacks can be, especially in between meals when hunger strikes. Snack food doesn’t always mean potato chips or French fries or any other packaged or processed food. If you are really conscious of your health then with a little bit of adjustment and timing you can actually control your weight and health with healthy snacking.
Here are a few snack ideas that will help you to keep track of your calories but curb your appetite:
- Choose snacks that are water based or have more water content in them. Because of more water they don’t have huge amount of calories in them, snacks like fruits, homemade nutritious soups and vegetables.
- While snacking make sure that your snacks have a lot of fiber in them. Snacks like popcorn, nuts, cereal bars, whole wheat bars, cookies or muffins, whole wheat bagels are high in fiber and prove to be healthier to the body. Even fruits like figs, guavas, apples have a lot of fiber in them and are great replacements for chocolates or chips.
- If you are looking for something to curb your hunger then you can try low-calorie yogurt, sugar free pudding, a handful of pretzels or pita breads. Hummus is also a great snack as it is rich in vitamin C, iron with traces of folate and Vitamin B6. These snacks are not only meant to curb your hunger but they provide your body with essential vitamins and minerals that are necessary for a healthy living.
- If you are always on the run it may not be possible for you to prepare a healthy snack item. In situations like these always keep a packet of 100-calorie snacks with you or keep some fruits and veggies with you. You can keep an apple or a few baby carrots or maybe a few wheat crackers and take them when you feel like munching on something.
Snacks are an important part of our daily diet so choose them carefully and wisely. If you are buying packaged food as snacks read through the labels carefully and find out the calorie content of it. Most people gain weight because they take more calories than they burn so it is always wise to snack on foods that are low on calories.
